THE FINE LINE WINS "LADIES, LET'S GO FISHING!"® EVENT AT OCEAN REEF

08/03 -- The Fine Line team of lady anglers took first place at the "Reel at the Reef" tournament hosted by "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!"® (LLGF) at the Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, FL July 26-27. A 12 lb. dolphin caught by Jeanne Urban, Miami, FL clinched the lead position for First Place Ladies Team. The Top Mixed Female/Male Boat award went to the Reel Ambition team, captained by Stephanie Gordon. Brenda Cannon, Ft. Lauderdale, FL weighed in a 10 lb dolphin to capture the award. Katie Curlett, Key Largo, FL weighed in a 1 lb. mangrove snapper to take the lead in the Inshore Division.

The "Reel at the Reef" event, open to ladies and male guests, kicked off with a social networking and educational event on Saturday evening, July 26. Fishing skills refresher stations such as casting and knot tying were offered, as well as a presentation on lobstering by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission. More than 70 people attended. On Sunday, July 27, participants went fishing and competed for prizes.

LLGF also offers full weekend seminars, with classes, hands-on skill station practice, social functions, fishing and Fish Tales Party, in the Florida locations of Ft. Lauderdale, Stuart, Sarasota and Islamorada, as well as Alaska and Costa Rica. Featured on NBC's Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, the series is partially underwritten by the FWC through the Sport Fish Restoration Program and by partners such as Mercury Outboards, Bass Pro Shops, Ranger, Boat/U.S. Marine Insurance, Gulfstream Int'l Airlines, Lowrance and Marine Industries Association of South Florida. Annual partners include Magic Tilt Trailers, Eagle Claw, Maxima, Minn Kota and more. Ocean Reef sponsors included American Airlines, Palm Truck/RV, L.J.L. Manufacturing and King Automotive. "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!" also offers a national association, with annual memberships and local chapters.
