2004 STUART SEMINAR - Another great success!
We were pleased to have another successful event in Stuart. We wholeheartedly
thank our event host and welcome reception sponsor: Pirates Cove Resort and Marina!

LLGF Fishing Report: 4/25/2004
Big Katuna: The largest of three dolphin caught was a 22 lb. fish reeled in by Lisa Craddock, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Donna Carlson, Jupiter, FL caught an 8 lb. dolphin. Myra Smith, Stuart, FL caught her first fish ever - an 8 lb. dolphin! It was also the first fish she had ever touched. Stated Donna Carlson, "We used teasers, planers and outriggers - the same things we saw in class."

* Gotcha/Capt. Marcia Foosaner: Bonnie O'Hara, Tulsa, OK caught a large jack and Chris Davis, Nokomis, FL caught two spotted sea trout, one weighing
3.5 lbs! All fish were released. This was Bonnie's first saltwater fish catch and release. They saw turtles, dolphin, and mullet. They practiced casting using top water jigs and DOA shrimp lures. O'Hara, who also attended the Ft. Lauderdale seminar, enjoyed fishing a new area of Florida and said she learns more with each seminar.

* Jolly O/Bob Odgers: Due to rough seas, the Jolly O retreated to the Indian River for trolling and demonstration of outriggers and teasers.
Lauri Hussar, Loxahatchee, FL practiced the class chant, "Slack is your worst enemy!"

Infinity Charters: Tammra Tatro, Trenton, FL caught an amberjack and Bonnie Blakeslee, Ocala, FL used a cast net for the first time to catch bait. They learned about rigging techniques, how to read a GPS, and about downriggers and outriggers.

Sunday: "A few of us were really seasick," said Allison Broderick, Nashua, NH, "but we caught fish!" Kathy Monaghan, Abington, PA caught a big dolphin and Joan Mongal, Port St. Lucie, FL caught another one. "Fishing is hard work!" conceded Kathy.

*Fish Tales/Capt. Charlie Conner: "We thought we were casting at two redfish," explained Eva Schulman, Port St. Lucie, FL, "but we discovered it
was a 4 foot shark in the river!" "The FWC is doing a great job with their
conservation education," said Linda Fouke, Ft. Lauderdale, "The water in Indian River was crystal clear." They also saw 2 puffer fish in the eelgrass.

* Outlaw Charters/Capt. Joe Massaro: Valerie Drushella, Parkland, FL caught a 1.5 lb. jack and a 2 lb. ladyfish. Darlene Callaway, Tequesta, FL caught a 2 lb. pompano. "We saw a very hungry bluefish bite at the same lure twice!" an amazed Darlene recounted. They learned how to cast and how to imitate shrimp motions with a DOA lure.

* Cher D'Loot/Capt. George Mittler: Pat Reid and Andi Vuolo, both from Pembroke Pines, FL caught kingfish. Karen Bynum, Palm City, FL and Miriam Ruffolo, Merritt Island, FL caught bonita. "All of us gaffed our catch on the first shot," Miriam said proudly, "We had a blast. It was thrilling to see kingfish skyrocket out of the water to hit the bait." The ladies had a chance to fight two sailfish. "The fishing trip made it possible for us to put our newly-learned fishing skills in motion!" said Miriam.

Terminator: This was a first-time saltwater experience for Gina DeLowrey, Port St. Lucie, FL, who caught a dolphin. Sandy Breda, Winston-Salem, NC caught a kingfish. Melissa Snyder, Vero Beach, FL reeled in a kingfish, which was attacked by a shark and then a barracuda.

Hobo: Everyone on the boat caught fish - jacks, bonita, and lots of kingfish. Although Marlene Kiriloff, Wellington, FL was "green" for quite some time, she caught the biggest and most fish. She also discovered that reeling against a fish helped her feel better. JoAnne Zito, Miami, FL was proud to catch her first fish ever!
