Ladies Reel in the Sails at “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” Costa Rica 2008

FT LAUDERDALE, FL, 2/2008 — Ladies and their guests released Pacific sailfish and caught 30 lb.-plus dolphin daily at the “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!”® Costa Rica Fishing Tour, Jan. 21-15 at Parrot Bay Village, Puerto Jimenez. Most participants had never before caught sailfish.

Participants fished three days on calm seas from 29’ center consoles. The sailfish ranged from 80 – 110 lbs. each. Double hookups added to the excitement. Four blue marlin up to 500 lbs. were raised and the group caught several 15 - 20 lb. Yellowfin tuna, providing sushi for the Parrot Bay Village guests.

Commented “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” Founder, Betty Bauman, “Because we have more than 5,000 graduates of the program in the last eleven years, many of which have attended multiple seminars, there has been increasing demand for organized, far-away fishing trips.” Bauman explained that some of the grads have purchased boats and conquered various styles of fishing in their local areas, and are now looking for more. She continued, “Costa Rica offers the perfect graduate crash course to propel them into the world of big game fishing.”

The organization chose Parrot Bay Village because of their proximity to great fishing, typically calm seas, jungle beach location, fishing ability and competent staff. Bauman explained, that while the “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” weekend seminars are for women only, the ladies voted to invite men on the foreign fishing trips.

Several of the group also enjoyed jungle tours and horseback riding in the jungle and on the beach, where they saw 4 breeds of monkeys, sloths, anteaters and other jungle wildlife. The women also witnessed crocodile feeding at the resort.

In addition to their annual series of four seminars and one special event in Florida, as well as events in Colorado and Alaska, the group is planning a trip to the Bahamas in mid-May.  For more information, contact “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” at 954-475-9068, email billfishbetty@hotmail.com or visit the website at www.ladiesletsgofishing.com.

Written by L. Black, who attended the fabulous 2008 trip Jan. 21-25, 2008:

"Wish you were in Parrot Bay Village, Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica this year!  We had the time of our lives, and you would have been in high heaven with the size of the Pacific Sailfish we hooked and raised!
24 Sails and 8 blackfin tunas (30-50 lbs) along with 30 dorados in 3 full day deep sea charters..........
Everyone hooked and raised a sail.........Mark had two sails and at the end of
the day around 4:30 Jenny and Mark had a doubleheader sail.  Of course, Jenny's sail was huge 140#er.

Then back to the dock by 6pm!  Cruising back at that time of day I would really capture the colorful sky at dusk, not to mention the beautiful full moon glistening off the water with the gorgeous backdrop of the mountains.

This was the best fishing ever and, of course, horseback riding on the beach and the rainforest with Betty and Chuck was incredible while the others went onto their tree top experiences. Can't wait to receive those pics!

Have fun fishing and next time you must join all of us. It was a blast!"

Additional note from Betty:  We raised a few of 500-pound-plus blue marlin, too! Some days, we had horses waiting for us at the resort, ready for us to hop on and ride into town after fishing.  Riding on the beach was awesome.  You could see the monkeys and macaws in the trees.

The food and service was awesome as usual.  The staff at Parrot Bay Village goes over the top to take care of their guests.  Plus, their price is SO reasonable for what you get!!

When you are going out to the fishing area, you pass by the rainforest and beaches…the sights are so enjoyable! Plus, we will never forget the awesome sunrises and sunsets! The last night, the PBV staff made a romantic bonfire on the beach for us, where we could share our stories and laughs.

We were pleased to have a newlywed couple on the trip who joined us to celebrate their honeymoon.  Dave is quite the singer and guitar player, stirring up our own "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!" idol contest.  We got quite lost in the 70's that evening. The whole place was singing! We would have had more photos, but crazy Dave lost his camera at the bullfights. They went to the bull fights before departing out of San Jose.  Rumor has it, he accidently tossed it into the ring and the bull stomped on it. So much for their honeymoon pix!

What we like about Parrot Bay Village is that you REALLY feel you are in another country.  We don't go away to feel like we are at home.  The cottages are made from the precious and rare Costa Rica hardwoods, with fish and birds carved into the massive doors.  Happy hour and dinner is in an open-air tiki with a beach view.

Whether you come with our group or plan your own trip, Parrot Bay Village is a place you don't want to miss! Visit them at www.parrotbayvillage.com.
