Learn and practice inshore fishing skills in one afternoon! Classes and hands-on practice are on Saturday 9:30 to 3:30 0r 4 pm. Sunday is optional Fishing Only.

Early Entry scholarship rate is $79, please note the early entry rate is still available. The Regular rate of $89 will activate later in the week of the seminar.  $99 for those who register the day of event.  Each guest gets about $20 in gifts plus a 10% Bass Pro Shops discount coupon!

Red tide has dissipated, the fish are out there! Most species such as snapper and sheepshead can be kept. Snook and redfish are release only.

Those who register two weeks in advance or earlier are eligible for door prizes!

Please register in advance and if fishing Sunday select your choice same time. Do one registration per person if registering multiple people. If you are not fishing on Sunday click the Not Fishing button.

Notes: Educational classes are held on Saturday at the Bass Pro Shops in Fort Myers. There are no classes held on Sunday but you can sign up for optional fishing at charter rates.

In one day you get to learn shallow water fishing from speakers, plus have precious one-on-one time at the skill tables with experienced captains! Knot tying, casting and more! You do not need to bring any fishing equipment, we cover that! Sunday is optional fishing, rates are below.

If you’re used to the typical weekend fishing university, be ready for some jam packed hours of learning

It’s all about learning to fish and meeting others who love the outdoors.

Learn about conservation, fish habits and how to dehook fish without touching them!

Learn equipment and tackle to use. Where and when to find fish, then what to do.

Hands-on Skills! This is why this program is so special! You will have a couple hours to work with guides one-on-one in small groups for knot tying, lure usage, spin casting (no hooks), fly casting, net casting, kayak fishing info and more! hands-on trailer backing to be announced.

Sunday Optional Fishing – no classes or meetings at the facility. Optional Fishing on your own or with independent guides.  This is an elective/optional.

On Sunday you are welcome to enjoy fishing on your own or with a independently operated charter boat and guide. Fishing in this area is typically near shore, mangroves and beaches!

Fish  in this area include redfish, snook, trout, tarpon, snapper, grouper, flounder and who knows what else! Rod, reel, lures and bait if the captain opts for it,  provided by the charter guide.  Fishing license is usually provided by charter boats.

Sunday – no classes, just fishing! Reserve your fishing when you do your registration.

  • 8 am – noon (approx) Charter Boat Fishing, Fishing locations: Punta Rassa most boats (just before the bridge to Sanibel) one inshore boat leaves from Fort Myers Beach area Fish Tales Marina
  • 9 am – noon Group boat NO LONGER OFFERED FOR 2020

Fishing rates PER PERSON – book it with your class reservation. All fishing is limited availability subject to minimums per boat.

 $185 Bay Flats boat with guide. These usually take 2-4 per boat but mostly 2-3. 8 to noon.  Fishing equipment included. In most cases the fishing license is included. Departs from Punta Rassa. We have one boat with our speaker Capt. Jon Fetter that will depart from Fish Tale Marina, Fort Myers Beach. If you live near this area and want to fish with Jon you can put that on your notes upon registration.

Most boats this size do not have bathrooms. There are no instructors on the boats but the captain will help you.

NO LONGER OFFERED $63 Group Pontoon Boat fishing out of Punta Rassa from 9 am to noon. This is about a half hour drive from Bass Pro Shops, just before the bridge to Sanibel Island. Includes bait, mate, fishing license, water and fishing tackle – recommended tip is 15-20% in addition. Limited availability. This is a pontoon boat that holds 20 people and is open to the public too. It has a bathroom and shade. 3 hours on the boat, 2 hours fishing (approx) and they will also talk about the area, marine life and birds. This is an all-release trip, most likely some ladies may release sea trout or grunts. If you don’t catch then enjoy learning about this area. Be advised they have a minimum number requirement so sign up as early as you can to let this boat go out! If you still want it call them directly to see if they are doing a fishing trip that day. 

15-20% gratuity is typically additional on ALL OPTIONAL FISHING TRIPS – bring cash for this!

NOTE Sign up fast as this is busy season and we need to book boats ASAP or they will take other charters.

Note: Suggested Fishing rates are based on full boats. If your choice is not available we will notify youAs it gets close we recommend you put a second or third choice  in the SPECIAL NOTES  section if you are flexible as most fishing choices are wait listed until the vessel is full. Fishing is not guaranteed and if your fishing choice and second/third choice does not become available you will be refunded the fishing charter fee.

A team of local reservation specialists will share their knowledge of which properties have availability and will negotiate the best rates.

They know the amenities each hotel offers, best beaches, attractions, shopping and restaurants.  Reservation specialists are available Monday through Friday, 9AM – 5PM Eastern Time,

As of early Feb. there will be limited availability – if you want to stay a bit longer and enjoy the area, check out vacation rental sites too like www.vrbo.com or other hotel booking sites.

Camping: There is a KOA campground in Pine Island that has cottages. There is also an RV park in Matlacha. We do not know availability or minimum stay requirements so you will have to Google the info and contact them. It’s a bit of a drive to Bass Pro Shops and fishing but a nice place to stay.
