2/2015 – Mothers, daughters, and families interested in learning to fish are invited to get away for a weekend of fishing and fun. This year’s Treasure Coast award-winning “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!”® University is May 19-31 and will be held at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, Stuart, FL.The weekend conservation-minded university offers classroom presentations, networking, hands-on skill practice and an optional charter fishing trip. Activities launch Friday evening with a networking social and appetizer contest. Saturday morning presentations include: Offshore, Inshore, Bottom and Fly Fishing, plus Fishing Basics. Hands-on skill practice follows lunch, for releasing, knot tying, dehooking, bait rigging, spin casting, gaffing grapefruits, cast netting, trailer backing, boat handling, reel maintenance and more. Sunday is an optional fishing trip with choices of bay/river, offshore or group boat, followed by a fillet demonstration. New for 2015 is the Ladies Choice option to bring a male guest or invite teens to include the whole family. Featured on national network television and more, the series is supported by major partners including the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, Mercury Outboards, Ranger, Minn Kota, Humminbird and Magic Tilt Trailers. The Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club is located at 4725 SE Capstan Ave., Stuart, FL 34997. Overnight lodging is available at less than a mile away at Pirates Cove Resort & Marina, 4307 SE Bayview St., Stuart, Florida 34997, www.piratescoveresort.com. Participants are encouraged to book their overnight rooms as early as possible. The 2015 schedule includes Gulf Coast/Fort Myers March 14-15, Ft. Lauderdale April 17-19, Treasure Coast/Stuart May 19-31 and Keys Nov. 13-15. International events are being planned, with the first event in Bimini, Bahamas Sept. 11-13.
